Your JSON-LD
How to use the generator
- Pick the type that describes the page: a person, a company, a local business, a service, an article, a FAQ or a breadcrumb trail.
- Fill in the fields. The ones marked with a star are required, and the box under the code tells you which are still missing.
- Press Fill an example if you want to see what a finished block looks like first.
- Copy the code and paste it into the page, then run the page through the Schema validator.
Which type should I pick?
| Your page | Type | Why |
|---|---|---|
| About page on a personal site | Person | Tells search engines and AI tools who the site belongs to |
| Homepage of a company with no shopfront | Organization | Names the company, its logo and its profiles |
| A clinic, salon, shop or office customers visit | Local business | Adds address, phone and opening hours that match your Google Business Profile |
| A page about one service | Service | Links the service to the business that provides it and the areas served |
| A blog post or guide | Article | Connects the post to its author, dates and publisher |
| A page with real questions and answers | FAQ | Marks up the questions so machines can read them |
| Any page deeper than the homepage | Breadcrumb | Shows where the page sits in your site |
Where to paste the code
- WordPress: add a Custom HTML block at the end of the page and paste the code there, or use the schema field your SEO plugin gives you. Use one or the other, not both.
- Shopify: paste it in the theme file for that page type, or use an app that accepts custom JSON-LD.
- Any other site: paste it inside the page's HTML, in the head or at the end of the body.
I co-founded wptaskify, so weigh this suggestion with that in mind: if your site is connected to wptaskify, you can ask Claude or ChatGPT to add the schema to a post for you, and the update_post_schema tool writes it without touching the article text.
Check it before you rely on it
Paste the page URL into the Schema.org validator to catch syntax errors, and into Google's Rich Results Test to see which rich results the page can still earn. Some types no longer earn any: FAQ rich results stopped showing on 7 May 2026, though the markup still helps machines read the page. The dated list is on AI Search Updates.
Mistakes that cause problems
Marking up things the page doesn't show. Google's guidelines say structured data should describe content readers can see.
Adding star ratings for your own business. Google stopped showing self-serving review stars for local businesses and organizations in 2019.
Picking a broad type when a specific one exists. A dental clinic should be Dentist, which is more precise than LocalBusiness.
Two plugins writing two different blocks for the same page. Check the page source and keep one.
A business name in schema that differs from the name on your Google Business Profile.
Questions people ask
Does schema improve rankings?
Google treats structured data as a way to understand a page and to qualify it for rich results. It doesn't promise better rankings for adding it, and markup on a weak page won't lift it.
Why JSON-LD?
Google recommends JSON-LD because it sits in one block, separate from your visible HTML, so it is easier to add and to keep correct.
Is my data stored?
No. The generator runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.
Can I use more than one type on a page?
Yes. An article can carry Article and Breadcrumb markup together. Paste each block separately, or ask a developer to combine them in one @graph.
